Third graders are underway with their Red Hot Reader papers. Remember to read for 20 minutes each night and have a parent sign the reading calendar.
After learning how to care for our books, many classes are now checking out books! When your child brings home his or her book, please help to find a safe place for the book. Don’t forget to read with them or ask questions about what they are reading.
The media center has a few hundred more books this year than last and more are on the way! We have new books in all areas – fiction, nonfiction, and biography! Check out the bullentin board in the hall for some of the new book jackets.
Beginning this week, students from the first and second grade library classes, will be selected to take home the backpack and bear for our “Beary” Special Readers. The student will read a story to the bear and then write about and draw a picture about the story. We will share the entries on Friday.
Thanks to all the student and parents that returned the signed policies and permission form. Students that returned the form on Friday received a bookmark. If you didn’t return the form, please send in as soon as possible. Without a signed form, students cannot check out library books.
Auburndale staff and students are collecting donations for the Louisville Free Public Library’s Flood Relief Fund.
You may recall that the library suffered major damage from the flooding on August 4.
The collection will end on Friday, August 28. Bring in your loose change to the office or the Media Center.
In an attempt to save paper and money, information will be posted to this blog. Everyone with Internet access will be able to read what is happening in the Media Center. Staff and students can view the information from school and parents can veiw from home or work. Pictures will occassionally be posted with parental permission.
